Carley Foundry, Inc. seeks a Senior Buyer to source raw materials, components, tooling, and outside services in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will partner with Production, Planning, Engineering, and Quality to ensure material availability, on-time delivery, and cost control. This role emphasizes supplier relationship management, ERP/MRP proficiency, and strong negotiation, with a salary range of $80,000–$90,000 and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• 3–5+ years of purchasing or procurement in manufacturing.
• Experience buying industrial materials, components, tooling, consumables, or outside services.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (M1, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
• Strong negotiation and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase raw materials, components, consumables, tooling, and outside services.
• Review purchase requisitions and MRP recommendations.
• Create, confirm, and maintain accurate purchase orders in the ERP system.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes and negotiate pricing, lead times, freight, payment terms, and minimum order quantities.
• Monitor open orders and expedite or reschedule deliveries to prevent shortages and production disruptions.
• Respond quickly to supplier delays, quality concerns, schedule changes, and other purchasing issues.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, and corrective-action follow-through.
• Support supplier selection, qualification, development, and alternate-source identification.
• Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, lead-time, item, and purchasing information.
• Help control inventory levels, excess materials, purchasing commitments, and overall material costs.
• Resolve receiving, quality, return, and invoice discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, supplier communication, reporting, data accuracy, and cost performance.

Job description

Carley Foundry is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will purchase the raw materials, components, supplies, tooling, and outside services needed to keep our manufacturing operations running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can balance production demands, inventory objectives, supplier performance, quality, and cost. You will work closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality, Inventory Control, Finance, and external suppliers to ensure materials are available when and where they are needed.

What You’ll Do

• Source and purchase raw materials, components, consumables, tooling, and outside services.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Three to five or more years of purchasing, procurement, materials, or related manufacturing experience.
• Experience purchasing industrial materials, components, tooling, consumables, or outside services.
• Experience using ERP or MRP systems such as M1, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or a similar platform.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of purchase-order management, inventory controls, lead times, order quantities, and supplier performance.
• Ability to interpret bills of material, specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear communication and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
• Commitment to ethical purchasing practices and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

This position works in both an office and an active manufacturing/foundry environment. The role requires regular computer work and may involve walking through production areas, wearing required personal protective equipment, and occasionally handling samples, files, or materials.

Pay

The anticipated salary range is $80,000-$90,000, based on education, experience, & demonstrated skills.
