Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Business Tax Advisor within the Department of Revenue to shape tax policy affecting businesses statewide. You will analyze laws, provide technical interpretations, and guide staff on tax initiatives.

Requirements include active CPA (last five years), 5+ years preparing business tax returns, and at least 2 years of strategic oversight of tax functions. Telework is possible part-time with in-office presence two days weekly.

Qualifications

• Active CPA within last five years.
• Five+ years preparing business tax returns (Sales and Use Tax, Corporation Net Income Tax, or Employer Withholding Tax).
• Minimum two years of strategic oversight of multifaceted tax functions.

Responsibilities

• Legislation Review: Analyze business tax laws and prepare technical interpretations and guidance.
• Advanced Research: Study federal and state tax changes to identify impacts and recommend corrective actions.
• Public Representation: Present agency policy at meetings and forums to support stakeholder understanding.
• Technical Consultation: Provide expert direction to ensure consistent interpretation of business tax rules across the organization.
• Knowledge Management: Document key information and support mentoring and training to maintain tax expertise.
• Project Leadership: Lead teams that implement initiatives and legislative changes and provide status updates to leadership.
