Job summary
BDO USA, Llp is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to plan and direct analysis of complex processes enhanced by automated systems. The role requires expert proficiency with tools and methodologies, and the ability to drive work with minimal direction while mentoring IT staff.
You will build relationships with stakeholders, analyze business activities, produce system specifications, document requirements, and guide the rollout of new software.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or MIS, preferred
- Five (5) or more years of experience in IT, required
- Exposure to relational database concepts, required
- Experience as a Software Developer or Analyst, preferred
- Prior experience in a professional service firm or military, preferred
- Prior leadership experience, preferred
- Project Management or Agile certifications, preferred
- IIBA certifications, preferred
Responsibilities
- Builds working relationships with key stakeholder groups
- Understands business activities, systems, software, and processes within focus area
- Collaborates with stakeholders to understand problems and enhancements
- Produces specifications for new or modified systems
- Documents requirements using templates, diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes
- Works with IT staff to develop new systems and software
- Evaluates emerging technologies and software solutions
- Performs build-versus-buy evaluations
- Oversees implementation of new systems and software
- Provides reference documentation of systems and software
- Plans and facilitates validation and testing
- Facilitates knowledge transfer to operations team
- Creates and maintains project and resource plans
- Identifies and mitigates project risks
- Maintains project controls and budgets
- Contributes to roadmaps for portfolios and products
- Coordinates vendors for project initiatives
- Other duties as required

- Builds working relationship with key stakeholder groups
- Seeks out knowledge and understanding of the key business activities, systems, software, and processes within assigned focus area
- Works with stakeholders to understand problems, needs, and enhancements
- Produces specifications for new or modified systems through collaboration with business users and other IT staff
- Documents requirements using standard templates, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes
- Works with other IT staff to produce new systems and software
- Researches and evaluates emerging technologies and software solutions for their application to the Firms business needs
- Performs build versus buy evaluations of software systems and software
- Oversees the implementation of new systems and software
- Provides reference documentation of systems and software
- Plans and facilitates the validation and testing for new systems, software, and enhancements
- Facilitates the knowledge transfer and hand off of new systems and software to the Operational support team
- Creates and maintains project and resource plans to successfully implement the most complex IT projects
- Proactively identifies and mitigates project risks
- Maintains and controls projects through oversight, influence, and communication
- Develops and executes communication plans for projects that include weekly status reports and project change requests
- Facilitates the rollout, documentation, training, and communication to end users affected or impacted by IT projects
- Plans, maintains, and controls project budgets
- Provides input to the development and maintenance of portfolio and product roadmaps
- Coordinates and manages vendors and vendor resources engaged for project-based initiatives
- Other duties as required
- Directs others as part of the project management process, but does not have any direct reports
- Provides on the job training and guidance o subordinate Business Systems Analysts

- Five (5) or more years of experience in the information technology field, required
- Exposure to relational database concepts, required
- Experience as a Software Developer or Analyst, preferred
- Prior experience working within a professional service firm or military, preferred
- Prior experience in a leadership role, preferred
- Project Management or Agile certifications, preferred
- IIBA certifications, preferred
- Hands on experience working with one (1) or more of the following software systems, preferred: Oracle PeopleSoft Financials, Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Services Automation, Oracle PeopleSoft HRMS, Oracle Business Intelligence, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft SharePoint, CCH ProSystemFX, CaseWare, Thomson Reuters CS Professional Suite, Thomson Reuters GoFileRoom, Kentico or other Content Management Systems

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under his/her supervision, and work ethically and with integrity
- Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills
- Capacity to work in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple complex projects/tasks
- Capable of successfully multi-tasking while working independently or within a group environment
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Capacity to utilize experience, technical knowledge and business sense to resolve issues and questions, along with plan and accomplish project/task goals
- Capable of facilitating meetings efficiently and effectively
- Ability to develop process documentation using diagrams and prose based on customer collaboration
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range: $110,000 - $140,000
Maryland Range: $110,000 - $140,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $110,000 - $140,000
