The Senior Business Process Analyst is directly responsible for data research, analysis, and trending for multiple Patient Access projects of moderate to medium complexity. The Analyst collaborates with Patient Access VP, Corporate Director, Regional Directors, Project Managers, Team Leads, Subject Matter Experts and key Stakeholders. The incumbent will assist by performing the following tasks:
- Analyze, review, forecast, and trend complex data.
- Present analysis and interpretation for operational and business review and planning
- Support short and long term operational/strategic business activities through analysis.
- Conduct research and data analysis to identify business opportunities, recommend effective solutions, and implement improvements to business processes when appropriate.
- Communicate analysis including trends and opportunities to the business.
- Other duties as necessary

Primary Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance and direction of Patient Access leadership, assists with specific Workstream / Initiatives (based upon area of expertise) and provides system level support within those activities for:
- Patient Scheduling
- Registration
- Financial Clearance
- Financial Counseling
- Revenue Cycle Follow up
- Pre Billing
- Corporate Services
- Other key activities performed by the local client
- Serves as a key data contact for assigned Workstreams / Initiatives, reviewing the Discovery Documentation (i.e., data request) with the key stakeholder(s), fielding questions regarding the request data and posing any necessary questions back to the stakeholder(s) in order to validate the integrity of the data
- Demonstrates ability to analyze large volumes of data to produce useable results to meet evaluation objectives. Analysis may include the documentation of financial and operational opportunities, as well as opportunities to improve the patient experience and associate engagement
- Successfully and seamlessly collaborates with other functional units (Transformation, Finance, Human Capital, Technology and Risk/Compliance, Legal, Client Service Executives, Vendor Partners, Client Deliver Leads) to ensure timely planning, design/build and deployment of new processes and technologies, as well as ensures timely documentation and cataloging of final documents
- Develops key documentation, including but not limited to: Process Mapping/Workflows, Charters, Workplans, Risk/Issue/Action Inventory, Training Tips, Front End training, Project Team Agendas/Minutes, etc.
- Assists with onsite planning and logistics (e.g., flight, hotel, and rental car logistics)
- Prepares first draft documentation for Patient Access leadership review and input, ensuring that all materials are client ready
- Contributes to Patient Access methodology development and other functional assignments, as assigned
- Promotes teamwork and displays ability to effectively communicate and coordinate multiple activities within the Patient Access leadership team, key function units and directly with client leadership
- Assists leadership in project management activities, including but not limited to:
- Scope Management Plans and controls scope for simple to complex projects
- Requirements Management Manages processes to ensure specific requirements are met and approved by users where critical to project results and timetable
- Data Management Effectively collects, catalogs, maintains, and utilizes data to analyze financial and operational current state situation(s), proposed future state operations and actual outcomes
- Schedule Management Accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks for small to large projects, measures performance to schedule, able to anticipate schedule issues and risk areas and recommend proactive corrective action
- Proactively and effectively provides required communications related to assigned Patient Access projects:
- Stakeholder Communications - Develops formal communication plans for simple to complex projects; Able to craft messages to a variety stakeholder groups with success, ensuring engagement and buy-in; Able to obtain needed communications from stakeholders; Appropriate interactions with various levels of Optum360 leadership with minimal guidance
- Influencing - In most situations, can skillfully represents points/position and settle differences with minimum noise; can bring teams to consensus and collaboration; can be direct and assertive as well as diplomatic; quickly gains trust of key stakeholders; has a good sense of timing
- Communication Skills: Oral, Written, Listening - Ability to draw conclusions and connect outside factors into conversations and work sessions; prepares and delivers effective written communication to all parties

With minimal guidance, prepares for and presents complex matters effectively; is effective in a variety of formal presentation settings: one-on-one, small, and large groups; is effective both inside and outside the organization; recognizes and ensures connection with all audience types and levels

- Functional & Technical Knowledge - Developing an understanding of Optum360 business functions in assigned business function and technologies within and outside area of responsibility

- Other duties as needed and assigned by the Vice-President, Patient Access or other Optum360 leadership, including but not limited to leading and conducting special projects
Maintains a working knowledge of Patient Access and Revenue Cycle applications and methodologies

Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare or revenue cycle management
- Demonstrated ability to respect diversity in experience, characteristics, viewpoints, and opinions
- Demonstrated ability to think and act; decisiveness, assertiveness, with ability to achieve results quickly
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals in executive, managerial and staff level positions. The incumbent frequently interacts with staff at the Corporate/National, Regional and Local organizations. May also interact with external parties, such as financial auditors, third party payer auditors, consultants, and various hospital associations
- Demonstrated ability to possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Optum360 and our client organization(s)
- Proven excellent organizational skills required (ability to multi-task, produce rapid turnaround, and effectively manage multiple projects)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Reporting experience including report design and delivery, performing data mining activities
- Proven analytical and quantitative experience; ability to develop appropriate methods for collecting analyzing, forecasting, and trending data; familiarity with healthcare finance terminology, Revenue Cycle metrics, and concepts

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
