Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, WordPress VIP

We’re Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, Jetpack, and WooCommerce. We're looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to join our analytics team.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with leaders across Marketing, Sales, Product, Customer Support, and Finance to understand analytics needs.
• Design database models and develop ETL pipelines using tools like Airflow, integrating data from sources such as Hubspot, Salesforce, Pendo, Gainsight, Google Sheets, and proprietary platforms, making data accessible via relational SQL databases and Looker.
• Create Looks and Dashboards in Looker to analyze enterprise data including product usage, churn, revenue retention, sales productivity, CAC payback, and funnel metrics.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses on financial, sales, marketing, and customer behavior data.
• Build strong relationships across teams to identify opportunities for analytics-driven growth.
• Improve data quality through validation, issue documentation, and collaboration to establish a reliable 'source of truth.'
• Provide strategic insights and generate reports on customer behavior for marketing strategies.
• Monitor marketing campaigns, ROI, customer acquisition, and engagement, identifying optimization opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Experience developing and optimizing ETL workflows with tools like Airflow, Python, SQL, Spark.
• Proficiency in SQL, including window functions and CTEs.
• Proven ability to design interactive BI dashboards that deliver actionable insights.
• Experience with sales and marketing tech stacks such as Salesforce, Hubspot, and Bizible.
• Experience working with Hadoop ecosystems (Impala, Hive, Spark) or cloud data warehouses like Snowflake or Redshift.
• Familiarity with Looker or similar BI tools, with a willingness to learn new platforms.
• Strong collaboration skills working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Focus on user experience in dashboards, with creative solutions for data trends and anomalies.
• Understanding of SaaS metrics and analytics across teams.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
