Job description

JOB TITLE: Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

ENVIRONMENT: Remote with travel (5% to 10%)

ELIGIBLE LOCATIONS: Texas, Georgia, Virginia, Missouri, Colorado

Our client is a mid-size (~$200MM) law firm known for its top-tier legal services across various industries. They prioritize a collaborative and inclusive culture that empowers employees to grow professionally and make significant contributions. Due to growth, the firm is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to impact and lead the financial reporting and business intelligence initiatives. The ideal candidate will be adept at data analysis and financial reporting, with strong technical skills in SQL, DAX, and Power BI.
The role involves transforming financial data into actionable insights, improving reporting processes, conducting profitability analyses, and managing financial systems. The position offers exposure to a wide range of business and litigation services, providing opportunities for cross-practice analysis and strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will benefit from the firm's stability and experience, while contributing to critical financial intelligence systems that drive firm performance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Personally develop and maintain advanced financial reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Microsoft Power BI, focusing on timekeeper statistics, matter profitability, and practice area performance metrics.
  2. Work alongside the Controller during month-end close processes for 3E Cloud, ensuring data integrity and producing monthly financial reporting packages.
  3. Conduct detailed practice area analyses across our diverse portfolio of business and litigation services, identifying trends and performance insights.
  4. Create clear, concise visual presentations of financial data tailored to various stakeholders, from practice group leaders to executive management.
  5. Co-administer financial reporting platforms including 3E Cloud and Data Insights, performing quality assurance reviews and managing user access.
  6. Develop and optimize SQL queries and DAX expressions to create custom reports aligned with the specific needs of our various practice areas.
  7. Create documentation for financial reporting procedures to improve workflow efficiencies and establish consistent best practices.
  8. Support financial systems upgrades and implementations, ensuring minimal disruption to reporting capabilities.
  9. Analyze WIP and AR trends across multiple dimensions, with particular focus on various fee arrangement types (contingency, fixed fee, hourly, hybrid) and practice areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and business intelligence, with at least 2 years in a mid-sized law firm or professional services environment.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in finance, data analytics, accounting, or related discipline or equivalent related work experience.
  3. Professional certifications in Power BI, SQL, or Data Analysis preferred.
  4. Demonstrated experience working with diverse practice areas and multiple fee arrangement types (hourly, contingency, fixed fee, hybrid arrangements).
  5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, dashboard design, and DAX formula creation.
  6. Strong SQL skills with ability to write and optimize complex queries.
  7. Experience with Elite 3E Cloud and Data Insights platforms preferred.
