Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Business Controller to act as the central finance partner for product launches with financial impact. You will drive cross-functional alignment across accounting, tax, treasury, risk, and operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and audit readiness while expanding Coinbase’s product footprint.

In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end launch review process, develop finance requirements, and deliver audit-ready documentation for executive leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in accounting, finance, or related field with hands-on experience in operational and accounting processes.
• Big 4 public accounting experience is required with a strong technical accounting background.
• CPA (or equivalent) required.
• Deep crypto product knowledge, ideally from a major crypto exchange or crypto-native fintech.
• Fintech industry experience with understanding of regulatory landscape.
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional workstreams and influence stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with experience producing audit-ready documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own periodic prioritization meetings with Business Partners across Consumer, Institutional, Base, and Development to assess product launch pipelines and plan Finance support across workstreams.
• Oversee end-to-end product launch review process, maintain Finance Requirements documentation, and ensure blockers have DRIs and ETAs.
• Partner with finance stakeholders and cross-functional teams to evaluate new product strategies and implement finance requirements.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to business partners, helping navigate the Finance organization and scale operations.
• Collaborate with EAA and Finance Engineering to implement reporting capabilities and automate processes.
• Perform accounting treatment reviews for new products and strategies, ensuring alignment with standards and policies.
• Scope, design, and implement controls addressing financial risks and operating effectiveness.
• Produce high-quality documentation including fund flow analyses, risk summaries, and executive status updates.
