Senior Business Analyst – Credit Card Integration & Data Mapping

Location: Tysons, VA – Hybrid (approximately 50% onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Analyst to support complex credit card integrations, portfolio conversions, and merger/acquisition activities within a financial services environment.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on credit card conversion and integration. The ideal candidate will have direct experience converting or migrating credit card portfolios and will be comfortable working across Card Operations, Technology, IT Integration, vendors, and acquired institutions.

The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource throughout the conversion lifecycle—from understanding the existing card environment and mapping data and products through testing, validation, UAT, cutover, and post-conversion stabilization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support credit card portfolio conversions and migrations, including both automated and manual conversion processes.
• Work with acquired or merging financial institutions to understand their existing card platforms, products, processes, data, and system configurations.
• Analyze and document current-state card environments and identify gaps between existing platforms and target-state requirements.
• Perform data mapping and field mapping between source and target systems, including card products, rates, fees, rewards, statement/cycle parameters, and other account attributes.
• Develop and utilize SQL queries to analyze, validate, and reconcile data.
• Work closely with IT Integration teams to understand ETL processes, data flows, file transmissions, data batching, and system interfaces.
• Partner with Technology and Cards teams to translate business requirements into technical conversion requirements.
• Support data extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and exception resolution throughout the conversion process.
• Participate in system testing, UAT, defect identification, retesting, and production readiness activities.
• Review conversion output files and validate critical information such as account IDs, rates, balances, fees, and other card attributes.
• Identify and resolve data or conversion issues, escalating complex technical issues appropriately.
• Develop and maintain mapping documents, technical requirements, conversion documentation, test scenarios, and implementation materials.
• Coordinate with internal technology teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and acquired institutions throughout the integration lifecycle.
• Support cutover, implementation, and post-conversion stabilization activities.
• Help ensure Card Operations requirements are accurately translated into technical solutions and successfully integrated with enterprise technology platforms.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in business analysis, card operations, card servicing, payments, or a related technical financial-services environment.
• Direct experience with credit card conversions, migrations, or portfolio integrations is required.
• Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or absorption of another financial institution/credit union strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with credit card processing platforms, system integrations, and conversion activities.
• Strong understanding of data mapping, field mapping, data validation, and reconciliation.
• Understanding of ETL processes, data flows, file transmissions, and system interfaces.
• Experience working through testing, UAT, defect resolution, and production implementation.
• Strong Excel/data analysis skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating across Cards, IT, Technology, vendors, and other business teams.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring strong technical knowledge of credit card processing, data mapping, integration, and conversion—not primarily a project management position.
