Job summary

First Roles in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Business Analyst with commodity/energy market data experience to join the Commercial Data & Analytics team. You will translate business needs into detailed requirements and coordinate with data engineering and offshore resources to deliver analytics solutions.

You will support QA, validation, and sign-off, ensuring data accuracy and timely delivery for trading, risk, and other Commercial workflows.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (Business, Finance, Economics, IS, CS, Eng, Math).
Experience as a Business Analyst or similar role supporting data, analytics, or technology delivery.
Strong knowledge of commodity markets and Commercial data and analytics.
Experience translating business needs into detailed functional and data requirements.
Experience with data QA, reconciliation, and validation.
Proficiency in SQL and Excel for data investigation.

Responsibilities

Serve as a day-to-day liaison between Commercial users and data engineering, analytics, and other technical delivery resources.
Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, data, reporting, and analytics requirements.
Translate business needs into detailed requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, data mappings, calculations, and process documentation.
Coordinate day-to-day implementation with data engineering and offshore resources and review delivered functionality against requirements.
Perform QA and validation of datasets, data pipelines, reports, calculations, and outputs for accuracy and timeliness.
