Job summary

Aoka is seeking a Certified Building Official (CBO) to lead a team of building inspectors in Houston, TX, guiding inspection programs and serving as a subject matter expert for the sales team. You will ensure compliance with building codes and coordinate with multiple departments to drive safety and quality in construction projects.

The role requires ICC CBO certification and 5–7 years of progressive inspection experience, with strong leadership, analytical, and client-facing communication

Qualifications

• ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) required.
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in building inspection.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical skills under pressure to solve complex code issues.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team.
• Conduct client visits for complex or escalated projects.
• Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards.
• Oversee issuing permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports.
• Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and owners.
• Collaborate with other departments for coordinated code enforcement.
• Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections and code compliance.
