Job summary

The City of Austin's Development Services Department seeks a Building Official to manage building plan reviews, inspections, and certification processes in Austin, TX. You will supervise staff, ensure code compliance, and coordinate with fire and utilities partners.

The ideal candidate holds a ICC Building Official certification, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and at least ten years of design/construction experience with leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning, architecture, engineering, or related design/construction field with 10 years' experience.
• At least 2 years of lead or supervisory responsibilities.
• ICC Certified Building Official or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversees plan reviews, inspections, and permits for the City of Austin.
• Leads division budgets, policy development, and inter-department coordination.
• Liaises with ICC, NFPA, and other authorities on code development.
