Job summary

Shropshire Council is seeking a Registered Building Inspector (Class 2D/2F) for a 6-month contract. The role combines plan checks, assessments, and site inspections, with hybrid working and some home working available. Basic DBS is required, and visits will be scheduled across domestic, commercial, and complex projects.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in Building Control, a relevant degree, and full membership of MRICS/MCABE/MCIOB, plus strong communication and IT skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Building Control experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient IT skills and experience with Building Control systems.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate Building Regulation applications for adherence to Building Regulations, approved documents and standards.
• Conduct plan checks and technical evaluations; attend consultations with stakeholders.
• Perform site inspections and enforce Building Control; maintain records and reports.
