Job summary

Willdan is seeking a Full-Time ICC-Certified Senior Combination Building Inspector to join our team in the Richmond/ Larkspur / Kentfield area. This position focuses on safeguarding communities through safe, compliant inspections and strong collaboration with homeowners, contractors, and city staff.

The role requires inspecting before, during, and after construction, issuing permits and notices, mentoring staff, and staying up-to-date with evolving building and safety standards.

Qualifications

• ICC Certifications - Commercial and Residential along with Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing.
• 5+ years of inspection experience with municipalities.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills when working with contractors, city staff, and the public.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and perform fieldwork safely.

Responsibilities

• Conducting combination inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
• Issuing permits, violation notices, and stop-work orders when needed.
• Clearly communicating findings with homeowners, contractors, and field personnel.
• Mentoring and training inspection staff to build a stronger, more knowledgeable team.
• Serving as a trusted resource for technical guidance and customer service.
• Staying ahead of the curve by integrating new developments in building and safety standards.
