Job summary

Willdan Public Agency Resources (PARS) in Tampa, FL is hiring full-time Commercial/Residential Inspectors to perform field inspections and help ensure building safety and code compliance across municipal projects.

Inspectors will review plans, issue permits and notices, and communicate findings to homeowners and contractors. A Florida Building Code Inspector License (BN) and a valid Florida driver’s license are required; ongoing training and mentoring are available at Willdan.

Qualifications

• Current Florida Building Code Inspector License (BN) for one- and two-family dwellings.
• Certification as Standard Building Inspector (Commercial) and Commercial MEPs preferred or obtained per Florida rules.
• Thorough knowledge of the Florida Building Code – Residential and Building and applicable statutes.
• Ability to perform inspections of residential and commercial construction to verify compliance.
• Valid Florida driver’s license with ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure compliance with safety and building codes.
• Issue violation notices, stop-work orders, and permits for construction.
• Document inspection results clearly and accurately.
• Communicate findings effectively to homeowners and contractors.
• Coordinate with other field inspectors and assist as needed.
• Explain and clarify code-related problems with field personnel.
• Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field and apply them to programs.
