Job summary

Greene County Board of Commissioners seeks a skilled Building Inspector to enforce local and state building and electrical codes. You will inspect commercial, industrial, and residential structures, review plans for permit compliance, and advise stakeholders on code requirements.

The role requires knowledge of the Ohio Building Code, Residential Code of Ohio, and Ohio Manufactured Home Rules, plus a valid Ohio driver’s license and journeyman-level construction experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5 years journeyman-level experience in building construction.
• Valid Ohio Driver's License.
• Current or pending certifications in building inspection per Ohio Dept of Commerce.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of commercial, industrial, and residential buildings for code compliance.
• Review plans and pre-plan reviews to ensure permit and code adherence.
• Liaise with contractors, property owners, engineers and architects on code requirements.
• Enforce Ohio Building Code, Residential Code of Ohio and related rules; uphold safety standards.
