Job summary

Polk County's job posting seeks one position as Building Inspector II or III, overseeing inspection of residential and commercial buildings for code compliance. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of construction or inspection experience, and Oregon certifications.

A valid Oregon driver’s license is needed; some certifications may be pursued within 12 months of hire. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in construction or building inspection, or equivalent.
• Must possess Oregon inspector certifications as listed in the posting.
• Must be able to obtain Residential Electrical Inspector and Fire/Life Safety certifications within 12 months.
• Valid Oregon driver's license at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Inspects residential and commercial buildings for compliance with county building and zoning codes.
• Reviews plans to ensure adherence to regulations and standards.
• Monitors ongoing construction projects and enforces safety and code requirements.
