Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is a national engineering firm seeking a Senior Consulting Engineer to manage small to medium projects, evaluate, investigate, and design repairs for existing buildings, and maintain professional industry relationships. Travel to multiple job sites is required, with a PE or RA license and strong communication skills.

The role emphasizes design, investigations, and mentoring of staff, with opportunities across building envelope components and remediation strategies

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Architectural Engineering required.
• 8+ years of architecture/engineering or construction management experience for the Consulting Engineer role; more for Senior Consulting Engineer.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Registered Architect (R.A.) license required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; team-oriented.
• Experience in curtain walls, historic preservation, rope access/rock climbing, and public speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design, site investigations, and documentation of existing conditions.
• Investigate and remediate building envelope malfunctions.
• Design and construction assistance to contractors and design consultation to architects.
• Sample envelope components including wall claddings, windows, roofs, skylights, flooring, and waterproofing.
• Perform field investigations and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows, curtain walls, and other components.
• Design remedial repairs to building systems including walls, roofs, windows, curtain walls, and plaza waterproofing.
• Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to staff; conduct peer reviews of plans and specs; support litigation for related projects.
• Assist during construction administration phase of projects.
