Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of building automation (HVAC controls) design experience.
• Ability to travel up to 35%.
• Experience designing large and complex jobs with standard tools and practices.
• Proficiency in engineering design software or drafting tools such as AutoCAD or Visio.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Hybrid role with visits to local area office.

Responsibilities

• Understand project requirements and design building automation solutions for higher education, data centers, hospitals, and other facilities.
• Demonstrate expertise in engineering and contracting processes, with knowledge of submittal requirements and documentation standards.
• Attend meetings to support opportunities and contribute technical details at project sites or offices.
• Prepare design documents including mechanical layouts, electrical drawings, system integration, BOMs, sequences of operations, valve and damper schedules, and DDC panel layouts.
• Design building automation network architecture to support operator workstations, DDC field panels, and third-party devices connected through Modbus, Desigo, APOGEE or BACnet.
• Analyze plans, contracts and codes to determine project requirements and risks.
• Design space pressurization, chiller/boiler sequencing controls, etc.
• Prepare re-estimates and coordinate with sales/management on scope.
• Perform quality assurance and peer-review of engineering documents.
