Job summary

University of North Carolina Wilmington is seeking an experienced HVAC Controls professional to analyze building automation and control systems and recommend modifications to improve operation and energy efficiency.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical or electrical), 10+ years in controls, BAS metering experience, project management skills, and a NC driver’s license. You will collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, and Design staff on campus projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or electrical) from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years’ experience in the controls industry.
• 5+ years in BAS metering resources.
• 2+ years commissioning commercial BAS systems.
• 10+ years in project management.
• Knowledge of design/construction practices for state projects.
• Understanding of heat transfer, mechanics, electricity, refrigeration, and fluid flow.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and execute facilities management projects for Building Automation infrastructure.
• Ensure equipment is operated efficiently to minimize energy costs and repairs.
• Provide expertise, oversight, and vendor management to repair, calibrate, and catalog BAS assets.
• Catalog control assets in AiM and BAS systems.
• Oversee maintenance and improvements to facilities; HVAC controls troubleshooting and planning.
• Collaborate with Facilities Planning, Engineering, and Design staff on new construction and planning.
