Job summary

Efficient Computer in San Francisco (Bay Area) is seeking a Senior Software Build & Release Engineer to own the GitHub-based build environment, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes. You will ensure fast, reliable builds and clear documentation to help engineers ship software efficiently.

This hands-on role emphasizes security, testing, and triage across the stack, with opportunities to optimize caching, runners, and cloud spend.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software build, release, CI/CD, or infrastructure engineering.
• Deep hands-on with GitHub and GitHub Actions, workflows, runners, and repo admin.
• Experience with build systems such as CMake and Make.
• Familiar with cloud providers like Namespace, Google Cloud, and AWS.
• Proven ability to triage and debug complex build, test, and infra failures.
• Experience executing testing and release processes for production software.
• Strong scripting in Bash and Python; Linux familiarity.
• Experience writing and debugging C/C++ programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; documentation-focused.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the GitHub-based build environment, including Actions workflows, runners, and automation.
• Manage build compute across providers (Namespace, Google Cloud, AWS) balancing speed, reliability, and cost.
• Improve build times and stability via caching, parallelization, and dependencies management.
• Keep the build environment secure: secrets handling and access controls.
