Job summary

Ingham County is seeking a Budget Analyst to assist with the coordination, preparation and administration of the annual budget. Under the supervision of the Budget Director, analyzes budget proposals and policies, assists departments with budget guidelines, and carries out special projects, including surveys, evaluations, planning, and statistical analysis.

Provides technical assistance to departments with regard to budget problems and projects and grant applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience.
• Experience with budget preparation and analysis.
• Ability to analyze costs, grants and contracts.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Familiarity with financial systems and budget workflows.

Responsibilities

• Assist in budget preparation and data analysis.
• Balance and monitor budget status monthly.
• Analyze costs, benefits and feasibility of policies.
• Develop strategic plans and performance measures.
• Provide technical assistance on budgeting and grants.
• Train departments on systems and processes.
• Review income and fees; coordinate with departments.
• Assist in preparing personnel projections and benefits.
