Job summary

Georgetown University seeks a Senior Budget Analyst for the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. You will manage operating budgets, endowments, and sponsored research, prepare annual budgets, modify projections, perform monthly variance analysis, and coordinate effort reporting and invoicing in collaboration with SPFO and JORA.

Job Overview

Senior Budget Analyst is responsible for the oversight of all financial management functions within the LCCC Cancer Prevention and Control Program (CC4143) and Experimental Therapeutics (CC4137) at Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Georgetown University including but not limited to managing funds described as: Operating (1701), Operating Reserves (1702), Unrestricted Gifts (1703), Endowment and Gifts (1801, 2802, 2803), Sponsored Research (1802). Knowledge and applicability of OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, and A-133 as appropriate to the extramural award process is a critical part of the daily management and analysis functions. Assists faculty in analysis, management, and reconciliation of all work tags and subcontracts. Serves as the administrative liaison with Federal, State and Corporate sources of funding. The incumbent is responsible for annual budget preparation, modifications, and monthly variance reporting. This position has signature authority in the absence of the Director of Finance. The senior budget analyst manages accrual and journals/cost transfers, coordinates effort reporting and purchasing, and prepares and tracks invoices. Working with SPFO and JORA for FFRs, close-outs and spend analysis is a part of the position. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: Budgets and Grant Analysis and Reconciliation Cost Center Analysis and Reconciliation Working with SPFO and JORA on award tasks Work Interactions Senior Budget Analyst reports directly to the Director of Finance, Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Interacts with Associate Directors, Program Leaders, Chairs, faculty, staff and financial affairs (Office of Sponsored Research, JORA, Sponsored Accounting, Payroll, Budget, Purchasing and Contracts and AP.)

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance or an Accounting field.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work well under pressure with a diverse population
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workload; handle difficult situation (eg: reduction in funding) with tact, diplomacy and discretion
  • Knowledge of federal regulations
  • Ability to interact well with community and University officials, faculty, staff and students
  • Ability to express information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to assimilate data, communicate effectively, exercise sounds judgment and discretion, understand comprehensive financial systems, including but not limited to GMS, Excel, BOX, and Word
  • Must have a working knowledge of financial management tools and a working knowledge of grants management
  • Strong finance, accounting, and analytical background
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience to include demonstration of progressive work experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in administrative and financial management, in particular- working knowledge of Federal OMB Circulars A-21, A-110 and A-133 as well as extramural funding.
  • Preferred: Certified Research Administrator

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $47,586.00 - $87,558.13 Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
