Job summary

At AECOM, a Structural Engineer III is sought to lead design and project management for bridge projects in the Northeast region, based in Rocky Hill, CT. This role offers opportunities to work on diverse projects, coordinate with engineering staff, and develop budgets and schedules.

The ideal candidate will review designs, provide technical input, and manage detailed bridge design using structural steel, prestressed and reinforced concrete.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering plus four years of relevant experience in transportation structures.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or willingness to reciprocity.
• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
• CTDOT project experience a plus; AutoCAD, Microstation, OpenBridge proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead Structural Engineer on projects including reviewing designs and plans.
• Provides specialized technical input on transportation related projects.
• Manages bridge projects including design tasks and coordinating work with engineering staff.
• Conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of new bridges utilizing structural steel, prestressed concrete, and reinforced concrete.
• Assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges.
• Load evaluation of existing bridges.
• Prepares technical specifications and design documents, report writing, technical engineering support, and limited inspection during construction.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
