Position Overview

HDR is seeking a Senior Bridge Inspector to join our South Carolina team. This role can be based out of any of our offices in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, or Fort Mill. The Senior Bridge Inspector will perform bridge inspections and some office engineering tasks such as rating, rehab/repair design, and CADD work. Responsibilities include conducting bridge inspections, preparing inspection reports according to NBIS standards, and assisting in inspection program management and guidance document preparation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct bridge inspections and act as the site lead
2. Review and comment on inspection reports
3. Mentor junior staff and supervise as needed
4. Perform additional duties as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in civil engineering or related field
• At least 10 years of relevant experience
• Willingness to collaborate across disciplines during inspection downtimes
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and ability to travel including overnight stays
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment; client relationship skills
• Physical ability to perform field inspections of various structures, including handling ladders, boats, and working at heights
• Exposure to environmental hazards is expected
• Local candidates preferred

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of experience
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture
• Compliance with HDR's Drug and Alcohol Policy, including potential drug screening
