Job summary

WSP is seeking a Structural Engineering Department Manager for our Michigan Operation. This role leads the structural team within the Transportation discipline, delivering high-quality design and oversight across projects and programs.

The candidate will grow the local structural design capability, mentor staff, manage budgets and schedules, and drive client relationships and business development within a large multi-disciplinary organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• 15+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, structural/civil and infrastructure design.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Proven ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary programs and manage budgets and schedules.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication with the ability to interact with all organization levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight to bridge staff on plan development tasks and project budgets.
• Mentor and develop bridge department staff.
• Lead large-scale structural projects, oversee budgets, hours, and profitability.
• Drive long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline for structural work in the assigned area.
• Develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Coordinate with marketing on proposals and client communications.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local engineering regulations.
