Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Raleigh, NC seeks an experienced Bridge Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on developing bridge and structural plans and NBIS bridge inspections for transportation projects with NCDOT, other State DOTs, and municipalities.

The ideal candidate will hold an ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, have 11–15 years of experience, and possess a P.E. license in NC or be able to obtain it within 6 months.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology required.
• 11–15 years of relevant experience.
• P.E. license in NC or eligible via comity within 6 months.
• Strong knowledge of NCDOT policies and procedures and AASHTO bridge specifications.
• Experience with bridge design software and MicroStation/GEOPAK/Open Bridge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs and contract documents for repair or replacement of bridge structures.
• Review shop drawings and provide construction support.
• Perform in-service condition inspections and document defects.
• Compute load ratings for various bridge types.
