Overview

Quartz Bridge is partnering with a well-respected civil and structural engineering consultancy that’s been delivering transportation infrastructure projects across New York State for decades. As part of their continued growth and future leadership planning, they’re looking to hire a Senior Bridge Engineer who has direct experience working on NYSDOT bridge projects.

This is a long-term opportunity with a clear path toward project management, suitable for a licensed PE with strong technical design experience and an interest in growing into a leadership role. The position offers flexibility with hybrid working arrangements and a strong benefits package.

What You’ll Be Doing

Bridge Design & Technical Leadership

• Lead the structural design of bridges for NYSDOT and municipal transportation projects
• Develop design calculations, plans, specifications, and reports for both new construction and rehabilitation work
• Conduct structural evaluations and load ratings in line with NYSDOT requirements
• Review and apply standards from NYSDOT, AASHTO LRFD, and other relevant codes
• Work with tools such as LARS, MIDAS Civil, STAAD, and other structural design software

Project Delivery & Coordination

• Coordinate with in-house engineers, sub consultants, sub-contractors and agency representatives to ensure smooth project delivery
• Participate in proposal preparation, scoping, and budget estimating
• Attend occasional field visits and inspections to support design development
• Assist in QA/QC reviews and mentor junior staff on technical execution

Pathway to Project Management

• Take on increasing responsibility for budgets, schedules, and coordination over time
• Serve as a main point of contact for specific tasks or project components
• Support client communication, attend review meetings, and represent the firm professionally
• Help shape internal project delivery processes and support the training of junior engineers

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred)
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New York
• At least 8 years of experience in bridge engineering, with recent experience on NYSDOT bridge projects
• Strong understanding of NYSDOT Bridge Manual, AASHTO LRFD, and local regulations
• Proficiency with relevant design software (e.g., LARS, STAAD, MIDAS Civil, AutoCAD or MicroStation)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel across New York State for site-related tasks when needed
• Applicants must have experience working in the USA, and have lived in the USA for at least 10 years, applicant who don’t meet this criteria will not be considered for the role.
