Senior Bridge Engineer (Transportation)



GPI is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our growing Western NY operations in Rochester, NY. Responsibilities:
  1. Manage projects from conception to completion, including proposal preparation, design, construction documents, and construction administration under senior management guidance.
  2. Participate in expanding our engineering operations and market reach.
  3. Support outreach efforts for local and regional clients, maintaining and enhancing existing client relationships.
  4. Apply engineering principles to produce high-quality deliverables.
  5. Prepare calculations and design documents, including plans and specifications for public advertisement and bidding.
  6. Work effectively in a team environment, mentoring junior staff.
  7. Develop contract specifications and bid documents.
  8. Review design criteria in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
  9. Perform and review calculations using software and hand methods.
  10. Communicate proactively with clients and team members.
  11. Participate in meetings and prepare progress reports.
  12. Review and ensure quality assurance and quality control of engineering deliverables.
  13. Identify issues, develop solutions, and follow checking procedures.
  14. Develop and supervise cost estimates for construction documents.
  15. Attend project meetings and site visits as required.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in bridge engineering design and management.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience with preliminary and final design and plan production.
  • Bridge load rating experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office and structural analysis software.
  • Knowledge of AASHTO and NYSDOT standards.
  • Familiarity with NYSDOT's Locally Administered Federal Aid project process is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
