Waggoner Engineering is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Bridge Design for our Baton Rouge, LA office. The role offers potential remote work for the right candidate andwill oversee design and technical assistance within budget and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 8 years of bridge and related structural design experience.
• 5+ years of experience in the technical production of engineering projects, including bridges.
• Extensive knowledge of LADOTD Bridge Design policies, procedures, and memoranda preferred.
• Ability to prepare engineering records and write concise technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering analysis and design for bridges and related structures, including new construction and rehabilitation.
• Conducts assessment and evaluation of existing bridge structural conditions and develops recommended remedial measures.
• Performs as-design, as-built, and condition bridge load ratings per governing AASHTO and client specs.
• Prepares construction plans, specifications, and contract documents for bidding of construction projects.
• Performs construction phase engineering, including on-site reviews, with Construction Services team.
• Understands bridge constructability areas of focus including multi-phased construction and erection of components.
• Maintains and documents communications with clients throughout project.
• Conducts project status reviews with project manager and team, ensuring timeliness.
• Attends meetings on project management.
• Assists Project Managers with administrative duties, including review of schedules, scopes and budgets.
• Assists in preparation of engineering studies and reports.
• Provides technical guidance to project team.
• Prepares project design using engineering software and tools.
• Assists in preparation of contract documents and technical specs.
• Ensures quality control procedures are performed.
• Maintains responsibility for accuracy and adherence to codes.
