Job summary

Blacksmith Software Inc. is seeking a Senior Brand Designer to own our visual identity across websites, interfaces, events, decks and swag.

You will translate complex technical concepts into engaging visuals that earn trust with engineers and leaders. You’ll craft a flexible visual system that scales with multiple product lines, working directly with the founders and the engineering team on launch narratives and assets for Hacker News, X, and our blog.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in brand design role, ideally in developer tools, infrastructure, or a complex B2B product environment.
• Portfolio shows systems thinking and range across web, motion, print, and presentation with strong typography and layout.
• Evidence you’ve built or evolved a brand for a technical product.
• Ability to articulate why a design decision is right and bring engineers and founders along.
• Comfort with ambiguity.
• You love to prototype and offer multiple options using agentic tools.

Responsibilities

• Own how Blacksmith looks and sounds across every surface: website, social, events, decks, swag and more.
• Translate genuinely complex technical concepts into visuals that engage engineers and build credibility.
• Build a flexible visual system that scales across product lines as we ship more.
• Collaborate with founders and engineering on launch narratives and assets for Hacker News, X, and the blog.
• Ship fast and iterate in public; treat the brand as evolving with the product.
• Raise the bar on craft and maintain quality while moving at speed.
