Job description

Senior Bookkeeper / Financial Coordinator

Harding Custom Homes | Rock Hill, SC / Charlotte, NC Area (In-Person)

Target Compensation: $65,000 - $85,000 / year (Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Full-Time (Part-time / flexible schedules actively welcomed for Senior/Controller-level talent)

What You'll Gain in This Role

When you join Harding Custom Homes, you aren't taking another routine data-entry accounting job--you are stepping into a high-visibility leadership position where you have complete ownership over our financial ecosystem.

  • Complete System Ownership & Autonomy: You will have the direct authority to eliminate redundant paperwork, implement modern software automations, and build clean financial processes from the ground up.
  • A Seat at the Leadership Table: Work directly alongside company leadership. You won't just report numbers; you'll present monthly strategy packets, explain financial health, and shape business decisions.
  • Variety Without Chaos: Combine hands-on operational work (payroll, reconciliations, journal entries) with high-level financial strategy and process design in a supportive, boutique environment.
  • Work-Life Respect: Enjoy structured, predictable hours with an established luxury builder that values operational efficiency over overtime burnout.
Your Blueprint for Success

We want you to feel confident and effective from day one. Here is how your impact will unfold:

  • Month 1: Audit our existing accounting setup, take comfortable ownership of payroll and bank reconciliations, and spot quick-win opportunities to automate manual tasks.
  • Months 2-3: Settle into a smooth, automated monthly rhythm. Reconciliations run on autopilot, and you are presenting clear, executive-ready financial review packets to leadership.
  • Long Term: Serve as our trusted financial authority. You maintain a pristine back office, drive long-term business efficiencies, and advise ownership on financial growth.
What You Bring to the Table

This role is designed for a sharp, system-minded financial professional who loves bringing order and structure to a growing business.

  • Full-Cycle Accounting Mastery: 5+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience. ( Assistant Controller professionals looking for hands-on, flexible operational roles are strongly encouraged to apply.)
  • Tech-Savvy Mindset: Deep proficiency in QuickBooks Online, alongside a natural passion for connecting software tools and eliminating double data entry. Experience with construction platforms (e.g., JobTread, BuilderTrend, CoConstruct) is a huge plus.
  • Technical Compliance: Confidence with South Carolina state filings, payroll tax administration, depreciation schedules, and structured month-end closes.
  • Clear Communication: The ability to translate complex financial numbers into plain-English strategic guidance for owners, project managers, and field staff.
