Job summary

MBJ Food Services, a longstanding campus dining and catering provider in New York City, seeks a Senior Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records within a small team.

Reporting to Ownership, the role supports tax preparation with an external accountant, handles payroll, reconciliations, and timely reporting, and may involve travel to the Bronx or Queens. Part-time schedule of 25–35 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional bookkeeping experience.
• Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Experience working with City & State payment systems is a PLUS.

Responsibilities

• Perform data entry and maintain up-to-date financial records.
• Reconcile accounts and bank statements to ensure accuracy.
• Generate timely financial reports for internal and external use.
• Process invoices.
• Manage payroll efficiently.
• Track expenses and oversee record keeping procedures.

• Collaborate within a small team (1-3 members) and liaise regularly with external accountant.

Job Description

The Senior Bookkeeper plays a critical role in managing accurate financial records within a small team environment. Reporting directly to the Ownership, this position ensures meticulous bookkeeping, supports tax preparation, and collaborates regularly with external accountant. The role involves both the use of accounting software and manual processes to maintain precise financial documentation.

This is a part time roll, ranging from 25 - 35 hours a week. Contractors are welcome to submit resumes.

Job MAY require you to travel within the Bronx (one office per day) or to Queens.
