Job summary

State of Missouri’s Division of Fire Safety / Office of the State Fire Marshal seeks a Senior Safety Inspector for the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Unit. The role develops inspection programs, conducts field investigations, and reports findings to ensure compliance and safety across Missouri.

Applicants must meet education/experience requirements, be a US citizen, and be able to obtain the Missouri Commission for boiler and pressure vessel within 90 days. Competitive benefits welcome.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent plus three years of related boiler/pressure vessel experience.
• Experience in boiler/pressure vessel construction or repair; operating engineer in charge of high‑pressure boiler operation; inspector of boilers/pressure vessels; or hold a National Board commission.
• Must be able to obtain the Missouri Commission for boiler and pressure vessel within 90 days of employment.
• Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct inspections for boilers and pressure vessels in an assigned geographic area.
• Make engineering calculations and recommendations to correct unsafe conditions.
• Prepare reports of inspection on a web-based system describing conditions observed and recommendations.
• Under supervision, perform accident investigations related to boilers and pressure vessels and complete reports.
• Provide presentations as requested.
