Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan seeks a Senior Engineer for BoF Truck & SUV Structures Architecture with BIW focus on Pick Up Box development. You will lead architecture definitions, leverage AL/AI tools, and collaborate across VHE, Manufacturing, and Program Strategy teams to balance performance, cost, and weight across platforms.

The role requires deep BIW/Mix-material experience, CATIA-based workflows, and a track record of delivering robust, lightweight designs aligned with GTDS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in body structure product development with advancement, validation, and launch experience.
• Experience with advanced technology development in body structures and aluminum joining.
• Perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools including draft angle analysis and undercut detection.
• Proficiency with Catia V5/TeamCenter and Catia V6/3DX for 3D surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop new BoF BIW architectures with a focus on Pick-up Box development and real world knowledge of pick up box usage.
• Collaborate with RIC, VO – Manufacturing, Materials Engineering to develop efficient BIW solutions.
• Maintain knowledge of competitive benchmarks to improve designs and architectures.
• Work with Applications engineering teams to optimize designs as a system.
• Define and validate BoF architecture system assumptions for programs.
• Validate standard and mixed-metal joint designs in BIW architectures.
• Collaborate with CAE-team for new BoF architectures and optimization.
• Develop lightweight designs including Aluminum HPDC, Plastic-Metal Hybrids, MPI tech.
• Deliver robust hand-off to Applications Structures Engineering for seamless progression.
• Use AI to improve development efficiency, time, cost, and quality.
