Job description

Medisend College is seeking an experienced Sr. Instructor / Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). The candidate will instruct students in college Biomedical Engineering Technology Program on operation, maintenance and repair of life support equipment, enhance current course material and develop new material, advise students, supervise projects, and participate in departmental and college activities.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate skills and tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex biomedical equipment.
  • Repair and maintain a variety of complex hospital medical equipment and systems in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, and all regulatory agencies guidelines and practices; maintain documentation consistent with all maintenance activities performed; order repair parts and track receipt of all purchased items.
  • Instruct students on topics such as: medical equipment technology, medical device installation/operation, engineering principles, and troubleshooting and repair of biomedical equipment.
  • Assist in preparing and developing new curriculum.
  • Assemble, inspect and install new equipment, inspect incoming non-hospital owned equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least 10 years Hospital or Biomedical Equipment Service with relevant experience in maintenance and repair of life support equipment, as well as other general hospital equipment.
  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or related fields
  • Past military experience preferred.
  • Past experience as an instructor or trainer preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills are required.
