Job summary

The State of Missouri’s Family Support Division, Rehabilitation Services for the Blind, seeks a Senior Rehabilitation Specialist for the Blind to provide counseling, assessment, and program coordination in the St. Louis area.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the Blind.
• Bachelor's degree with at least 24 credit hours in Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Disability Studies, Human Resources, Business Administration, Special Education, Psychology, or Social Work; and at least three years of professional experience serving individuals with disabilities.
• A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of the stated experience; CRC certification is also accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitation counseling services to consumers within the assigned district.
• Conduct in-depth interviews to gather medical, social, educational, and vocational histories.
• Arrange or administer tests to assess cognitive level, aptitudes, and abilities.
• Develop and implement an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) and facilitate service coordination.
• Utilize community resources and financial supports to enhance rehabilitation outcomes.
• Coordinate services such as training, equipment, job placement, and related support.
• Represent consumer interests to families, employers, schools, and health providers.
• Maintain relationships with state and community resources to ensure wraparound services.
• Travel to conduct home visits, meetings, and employer follow-ups.
