Job summary

Allegro MicroSystems is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join our Manchester Molecular Sensors Laboratory, advancing the Giant Magnetoresistance biosensor platform. You will develop and validate assays, enabling translation of biological targets into robust sensor‑based diagnostics.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Chemistry or related discipline.
• 3–6 years of hands-on laboratory experience in biotechnology, diagnostics, medical devices, or related R&D environments.
• Experience with standard laboratory techniques including pipetting, solution prep, dilution series, ELISA, or molecular biology workflows.
• Experience with surface chemistry, bioconjugation, or immobilization of biological capture reagents.
• Strong experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and statistical analysis tools; JMP, Python or equivalent software is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Execute and optimize biosensor assays across targets and sample matrices (blood, serum, saliva).
• Develop protein, nucleic acid, and multiplexed assay formats for GMR sensing.
• Analyze experimental results using Excel, JMP, Python and related tools.
• Perform surface functionalization, bioconjugation, and immobilization on sensor substrates.
• Support process development and scale‑up for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate biological assays into system design.
