Job summary

Amazon BIOS Engineering is seeking a Sr Software Engineer with 7+ years of embedded or BIOS/UEFI experience to design and implement firmware for AWS server platforms. You will lead critical firmware features, collaborate with silicon vendors, and drive platform bring-up and validation across global teams.

Ideal candidate will have strong expertise in x86 architecture, secure boot, and low-level system programming.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on embedded or BIOS/UEFI development experience.
• Deep expertise in x86 platform architecture and secure boot implementations.
• Track record of leading complex firmware projects end-to-end and collaborating with silicon vendors.
• Ability to analyze firmware stacks for current needs and future scalability.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement custom UEFI/BIOS features for server platforms.
• Debug complex firmware issues using ITP, ScanTool, and JTAG.
• Optimize boot time performance and platform initialization sequences.
• Implement secure boot mechanisms and firmware security features.
• Develop and maintain POST code.
• Create firmware update mechanisms and recovery solutions.
• Collaborate with hardware teams on board bring-up and validation.
• Lead architecture discussions and technical planning.
