Job summary

Genentech Oceanside seeks a Senior Engineer/Scientist to bridge late-stage process development with commercial manufacturing. You will lead cross-functional projects, implement new technologies, and drive site operational excellence in a multi-product biopharmaceutical facility.

You will supervise small/pilot-scale operations, validate processes, and coordinate technology transfers, while mentoring technicians and collaborating with internal partners to meet schedule and quality goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or Life Sciences with 4–6 years in biopharma manufacturing.
• Strong execution and problem solving with independent project ownership.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical transfers of phase III molecules from development to commercial scale, incl. facility fit checks.
• Execute small/pilot-scale validation studies, testing, and investigations to support release and networks.
• Direct scale-up activities, feedstock development for downstream studies, and harvest range assessments.
• Oversee upstream, downstream, and analytical small/pilot-scale operations, including bioreactor work.
• Drive troubleshooting for complex equipment and processes; lead continuous improvement efforts.
• Serve as technical liaison between Operations and Process Sciences customers site-wide.
