Job summary

Elanco in Indianapolis, IN, seeks a Senior Scientist to lead the transition from early research to development, guiding early-formulation work for lead molecules and ensuring physical stability for pre-clinical material generation.

You will direct a small team performing biophysical characterization and formulation selection for monoclonal antibodies and other complex biologics, shaping the path to full development and scientific advancement.

Qualifications

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related science.
• 3+ years in biopharmaceutical industry focusing on protein formulation and characterization.
• Experience leading formulation projects from concept to execution.
• Strong communication skills and data integrity practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation programs for lead molecules with emphasis on solubility, stability, and freeze-thaw potential.
• Direct and mentor a small characterization team; establish analytical workflows.
• Identify and mitigate formulation risks such as aggregation and viscosity at high concentrations.
• Evaluate novel formulation technologies and high-throughput screening to accelerate lead selection.
• Serve as technical formulation lead on cross-functional project teams.
• Maintain exemplary ELN documentation and provide data-driven development recommendations.
