Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician III to provide advanced maintenance and repair of clinical and laboratory equipment, including life-support devices. This role serves as a technical resource and collaborates with departments to ensure equipment safety and proper operation.

CBET certification and 75% competency across Clinical Engineering areas are required. Candidates should have a high school diploma and a strong electronics background, with extensive hands-on repair

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and background in medical electronics.
• CBET Certification required.
• Eight years of experience in applying biomedical and electronics principles in a medical center environment.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and illustrated parts drawing of biomedical instrumentation.
• Extensive maintenance skills in electronics, mechanical or electromechanical device repair.
• Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair a diverse range of clinical equipment including life support devices.
• Serve as a technical resource to UCSF HealthCare and Academic Research System staff.
• Notify departments about repair status and assist in obtaining loaner or replacement equipment.
• Assist in identifying obsolete equipment and safety issues and recommend replacements.
• Participate in Device Incident Investigation and provide follow up to management.
