Job summary

Kaiser Permanente seeks a Biomedical Engineer III in Clackamas, Oregon, to manage acquisition, installation, calibration, repair, preventive maintenance, and decommissioning of medical equipment. The role collaborates with vendors, clinicians, and IT to ensure safe, compliant operation and proper documentation.

Responsibilities include developing maintenance plans, performing safety inspections, coordinating outside service vendors, and supporting staff training.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of experience servicing medical equipment or eight (8) years of servicing medical equipment.
• AAS degree in Biomedical Equipment Service Technology, Electronic Service Technology, or Computer Service Technology from an accredited program or military training in Biomedical Equipment training or Electronic Systems Support.
• Driver's License (in location where applicable) required at hire.
• Proficient in testing instruments, devices, simulators, and tools associated with servicing electronic equipment.
• Reading, writing, and fluently speaking and understanding English.

Responsibilities

• Advises on specifications for purchases on new equipment and recommends replacement of obsolete or irreparable equipment.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to prepare for installation and deployment of medical equipment and systems.
• Performs or coordinates preventive maintenance and safety inspections on medical equipment.
• Analyzes malfunctions and performs repairs using test equipment, component replacement, and software updates.
• Calibrates equipment to manufacturers' specifications and ensures network connectivity to data/information retention systems.
• Documents work performed in the centralized maintenance management system and supports incident investigations.
