The role blends computational modeling with experimental imaging and elastography to quantify corneal tissue biomechanics and inform device development. The candidate will develop and validate models, estimate material properties from data, and collaborate across hardware, software, and systems teams to integrate methods into prototype devices.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or MS with equivalent industry experience.
• 5–8+ years in soft‑tissue biomechanics, computational modeling, imaging, or quantitative analysis.
• Experience in developing/validating biomechanical models, FE analysis, and parameter estimation.
• Knowledge of biomechanical imaging and elastography; COMSOL experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop current and next‑gen ophthalmic devices from research through translational development.
• Develop, apply, and validate analytical and computational models of corneal biomechanics, including FE methods.
• Use data to estimate material properties, perform inverse analysis, and validate predictions.
• Support biomechanical imaging and elastography measurements and refine experimental setups.
• Develop and maintain modeling and imaging algorithms and software pipelines.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to integrate methods into devices.
• Oversee data collection, model development, validation, and performance characterization.
• Evaluate new modeling methods and measurement technologies for ophthalmic use.
• Communicate results via reviews, reports, and publications; assist with IP/regulatory work.
