Job summary

AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Automation Scientist/Engineer to drive transformational automation for Biologics Engineering within Oncology R&D. You will design and integrate robotics, high-throughput systems, and data workflows, connecting instruments and labware into scalable platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in life sciences, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of relevant industry experience in biologics, drug discovery, or related life sciences setting.
• Hands-on experience with diverse laboratory automation platforms and liquid handling.
• Expertise in automation scheduling software and programming of liquid-handling platforms; proficiency with robotics scripting.
• Ability to map SOPs to automated workflows and document requirements.
• Strong communication and ability to work in a fast-paced matrixed environment.
• Proven track record of initiating and delivering durable improvements to systems and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, and optimize robotics and high-throughput systems across BE.
• Serve as technical authority for multiple automation platforms, guiding design decisions.
• Own reliability and continuous improvement of shared automation systems and workflows.
• Support operation and troubleshooting of deployed automated workflows.
• Grow team capability through mentoring and influencing the automation community.
