United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Billing Systems Engineer to design and operate scalable financial infrastructure. You will lead projects from requirements to production, ensuring accurate billing as the company grows, and collaborate across Product, Finance, and Engineering teams.

The role focuses on building reliable microservices, handling high transaction volumes, and advancing our billing platform with modern technologies like Go, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems or backend services in production.
• Proficiency in Go or another modern programming language.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, service security, and API standards such as OpenAPI, OAuth, or JWT.
• Working knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience designing secure, highly available microservices in Linux/Unix environments.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and project ownership skills.

Responsibilities

• Build Billing Systems: Design, develop, and operate transactional microservices for metering, subscriptions, invoicing, payments, and financial workflows.
• Own Projects End to End: Drive initiatives from requirements through implementation, testing, deployment, and operation.
• Ensure Accuracy and Reliability: Build fault-tolerant systems handling retries, failures, concurrency, and high volumes with financial correctness.
• Maintain Operational Excellence: Monitor production services, investigate billing issues, improve observability, address root causes of incidents.
• Shape Technical Direction: Participate in architecture reviews and improve engineering standards across the billing platform.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with Product, Finance, Accounting, Support, and other teams to translate business requirements into solutions.
