Job summary

Tavily Inc. in New York is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build the billing platform for agentic search. You will own end-to-end metering, pricing models, and revenue integrity for a high-scale, usage-driven product.

The role requires building robust, auditable systems with strong Python/TypeScript skills, hands-on experience with billing ecosystems, and collaboration with product and security teams. Hybrid work in NYC is offered.

Qualifications

6+ years building production backend systems, with 3+ years on billing/metering.
Experience with usage-based, metered billing and proration logic.
Experience with subscription/recurring billing plus usage models.
Experience with prepaid credits/wallets and auto top-up mechanics.
Enterprise/contract billing with custom pricing and terms.
End-to-end integration of third-party billing platforms (Stripe Billing, Metronome, Orb, Zuora).
Strong Python and TypeScript/Node.js, Go a plus.

Responsibilities

Design and operate the billing platform end to end from usage events to invoices.
Build metering and usage aggregation pipelines for billable amounts.
Design prepaid credits/wallet systems with auto top-up and balance management.
Support enterprise/contract billing with custom pricing and terms.
Implement reconciliation, idempotency, and invoice accuracy safeguards.
Lead migration to next-gen billing with minimal downtime.
Define observability and quality metrics for billing correctness.
Ensure SOX/compliance and financial audit readiness.
