Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr

Seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Billing Manager to lead the firm's client billing operations. This is a fully remote position offering the opportunity to work with a collaborative, high-performance finance team supporting complex billing requirements across multiple practice groups and jurisdictions.

Description

• Lead the end-to-end billing process, ensuring accurate, timely, and client-specific invoice generation in compliance with firm and client guidelines.
• Manage a team of billing coordinators and specialists, providing oversight, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the billing team, partners, clients, and other departments to resolve billing inquiries and streamline processes.
• Oversee implementation and enforcement of client billing protocols, including outside counsel guidelines (OCGs), e-billing systems, and timekeeper rate management.
• Review and approve complex invoices, write-offs, and adjustments while ensuring adherence to client-specific terms.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal Project Management, and IT to drive process improvements and leverage billing technology platforms.
• Develop and report on key billing KPIs and metrics for leadership.
• Lead special projects including billing audits, system upgrades, and integration initiatives for new clients or practice groups.
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, ethical obligations, and industry standards.

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive billing experience in a law firm or professional services environment; at least 3 years in a management role.
• Strong knowledge of law firm billing systems (e.g., Elite 3E, Aderant, or similar).
• Experience with e-billing platforms such as BillBlast, Legal Tracker, or CounselLink strongly preferred.
• Deep understanding of billing compliance, client guidelines, and legal industry best practices.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
• Proven track record of driving operational improvements and managing remote teams.
