Job summary

SunSource seeks a highly talented Business Intelligence Developer to design, build and maintain enterprise Power BI reports, dashboards and data models. You will work closely with business and technology leaders to support Sales, Operations and Shared Services, advancing our BI capabilities and data architecture.

You will own the data in the reporting environment, transform data into actionable insights, and design UX for Power BI reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field as described in the job posting.
• 3+ years designing and developing BI reports and data models in Power BI or equivalent BI tools.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in BI, analytics, reporting, or data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Own the data within the Reporting environment and enable business understanding of data capabilities.

SunSource is a growing company looking for a highly talented and passionate Business Intelligence Developer to design, build and maintain our enterprise Power BI reports, dashboards and data models in support of enterprise value creation and business growth. This position will work closely with business and technology leaders to understand the enterprise objectives and build our capabilities in BI, Reporting & Analytical applications to support Sales, Operations and Shared Services. This role will also be instrumental in advancing our data modeling and BI architecture capabilities, including the use of Databricks, to lead the industry in the utilization of data to capture market share and outperform our competition.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Own the data available within the Reporting environment, serving as a resource for the business to understand what data and capabilities currently exist.

Meet with subject matter experts in different areas of the business, be able to quickly learn the concepts and business language relevant to their line of business and develop an understanding of how their data supports their business processes.

Ability to transform data into insight can help to improve the value of the business. Design Power BI UX - visualizations, reports, and dashboards to tell stories and uncover insights for actionable analytics via mockups and functional specs.

Perform BI solution development activities including requirements gathering, data model design, development & testing of reports & dashboards in Power BI. Test reports to ensure optimal user experience and data accuracy. Investigate and resolve any data discrepancies within Power BI datasets and models.

Partner with Data Engineers to understand the data they make available and use it as the foundation for Power BI reporting and data models

Build and maintain Power BI semantic data models and datasets sourced from Databricks, including relationships, DAX measures and calculation groups, to support scalable and reusable reporting.

Create and maintain documentation that includes the design, requirements and user manuals for the organization.

Facilitate and lead senior IT and business teams through challenging data issues.

General Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

3+ years designing and developing BI reports and data models in Power BI or equivalent BI tools

5+ years of relevant experience

Strong knowledge and experience of data, BI/analytics, reporting platforms and data visualization techniques and tools.

Experience in Manufacturing or Distribution Industry with knowledge of key KPIs & business processes

Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a medium to large organization

Able to work flexible hours as required by business priorities

Limited travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms

Experience with data modeling and BI architecture design within Power BI (star schema design, DAX, Power Query)

Experience with modern data/BI architectures
