Job summary

McCormick & Company, Incorporated is seeking a Senior Scientist, Beverages to work at McFONA in Geneva, IL. The role focuses on developing and evaluating beverage flavor systems using proprietary technologies to support customers and internal teams.

You will lead flavor applications, manage cross-functional projects, and contribute to new flavors and methodologies. A strong background in beverage flavor delivery and product development is required.

Qualifications

• BSc in Food Science/Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the food/flavor industry with beverage flavor focus.
• At least 3 years Beverage Flavor applications in a flavor house OR 3 years Beverage Product Development in consumer products.
• Strong experience with Beverage Flavor Delivery Systems, Ingredients and Flavors.
• Ability to interpret data and solve complex problems.
• Project management and ability to interact, teach, influence, and negotiate.
• Ability to influence across the organization.
• Ability to present technical topics and R&D capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Leading flavor applications and prototype development in beverage products and providing flavor applications support.
• Facilitating complex projects with cross functional teams and designing experiments.
• Building competency within Beverage Flavor Applications.
• Plan and lead project teams, assess requirements and manage experiments.
• Investigate and assess new ingredients and technologies.
• Provide internal expert support on projects with other groups, consultants, and vendors.
• Support commercialization of products and troubleshoot issues.
• Interface with customers and commercial team to communicate status.
• Supervise and instruct lower-level employees.
