Job summary

Essex Property Trust is seeking a Senior Benefits Analyst to administer health and welfare programs, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives. You will analyze data, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance, and vendors to optimize Total Rewards and employee experience.

The role requires 3–5+ years in benefits administration, strong knowledge of ERISA and related regulations, and advanced Excel/Workday skills. Hybrid Irvine office as the primary work location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in HR/Business/Finance.
• 3–5+ years of benefits administration and analysis experience.
• Strong knowledge of health, welfare, and retirement plans.
• Experience with 401(k) plans, audits, and compliance.
• Familiarity with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA regulations.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and HRIS systems.

Responsibilities

• Administer health and welfare plans per plan documents and laws.
• Support administration of retirement plans and wellness programs.
• Manage benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations with vendors.
• Oversee premium matters and leave benefits administration.
• Respond to associate inquiries with excellent service.
• Assist in open enrollment, data auditing, and eligibility checks.
• Handle vendor file processes via Workday with HRIS and vendors.
• Collaborate to assess and enhance existing benefits programs.
• Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party admins.
